Creating a Coaching Culture

CLP invested in The Dynamics of Leadership Coaching Programme as a means to develop key coaching skills as part of creating strong, highly skilled, insightful and confident Cultural Leaders.

Offered 8 times between 2009-2011, the 5 day Foundation Course ‘Coaching skills for Leadership’ was aimed at mid-career and established leaders. During that time, 140 people took the training, with many graduating as accredited coaches.  Together they explored the essential elements of coaching and investigated how coaching can be used in leadership practice.

Course leader, Deb Barnard, describes how the The Dynamics of Leadership Coaching Programme was conceived as a way to support coaching provision in the cultural industries by training and accrediting people already working within the sector.  As well as profiling the experience of a previous graduate, Gaylene Gould, who has gone on to become a full time coach; this film visits graduation day for one of the cohorts, and we hear from a variety of participants about the effect of the training, and how they plan to use their new skills going forward.
