Director, Fuel
In 2004 Kate co-founded Fuel, a producing organisation, with Louise Blackwell. Fuel produces fresh work for adventurous people by inspiring artists. Prepared to take risks Kate aspires to re-imagine how things could and should be done. With a brilliant creative eye she can analyse quickly what (and who) an artist needs to take a good piece of work to the next level.
Kate is not only a producer; she is also a business leader, a thinker of new things, a theatre maker and director, a dramaturg and diplomat.
Kate has driven Fuel so successfully by taking the good bits of what she has learnt from individuals leading organisations and make new work around her; whilst also not being afraid to question and not accept failed or insufficient methodologies and perspectives. She has gotten to where she is by demonstrating a critical eye, unwavering determination, a vision for finding new ways of doing things better, and by bringing people with her – growing her ability to develop a team of people as well as to develop artists.
Kate was awarded the Theatre Fellowship on the Clore Leadership Development programme last year. Leading by doing Kate has also been developing a formidable sphere of influence and a reputation for finding new solutions to old problems.
