Head of Strategy & Communications, National Museum Directors’ Conference (NMDC)

Kate Bellamy

"Kate is a strong leader, who has demonstrated her ability to identify a vision, steps to achieve it and delivered on those goals. Kate is held in very high regard across the cultural sector and her skills and development potential make her an outstanding candidate for future leadership roles."

In her three year tenure at the NMDC, Kate has transformed the organisation internally so that is fit for purpose, identified and built the necessary external network to effect change and developed an authoritative understanding of museum policy and practice.

Kate is a strong leader, who has demonstrated her ability to identify a vision, steps to achieve it and deliver on those goals.  Her vision and ideas have contributed to the progression of museum policy and thinking.

Kate is a relatively recent convert to the cultural sector, however is committed and ambitious.  She has actively pursued the skills and knowledge she needs to excel in and contribute to the sector.  In 2008 she was awarded a place on the University of East Anglia’s Museum Leadership Programme and is currently studying for her Graduate Certificate in History of Art and Architecture at Birkbeck College, University of London.

Skilled in identifying and building effective relationships with those people shaping cultural policy -  engaging them in the need to support and champion museums. Kate understands the bigger picture in relation to museums, particularly in relation to government policy.

Kate has a clear understanding of how the outside world interacts with and impacts on the sector and a strong track record in bringing people together to achieve change.
