Development Opportunities for Individuals on the Boards of Cultural Organisations

"To be successful, organisations need a combination of effective executive leadership and good governance: that's why I view Board Development as a vital part of our work in strengthening leadership in the cultural sector", Sir John Tusa, Chair, Clore Leadership Programme.

The Clore Leadership Programme, in partnership with the Cultural Leadership Programme, has announced further dates for its programme of development work for Boards of cultural organisations across the UK. Sitting alongside the existing Clore Fellowships and Short Courses and additional to the Board awaydays which have already been confirmed with 12 cultural organisations, we will be offering one-day courses for:

  • Iindividuals who have recently been appointed as Chair of the Board of a cultural organisation,
  • Individuals who have recently been appointed as Board members
  • More experienced Chairs and CEOs or Artistic Directors coming as a pair

The days will be held between April 2009 and March 2010 in venues across the UK. Each day will cover issues such as artistic risk, financial information, legal responsibilities, strategic planning, diversity, recruitment and succession planning.
